We also had dinner at a small Italian restaurant. It was just a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant but the food was good, the ambiance was nice and to actually have the pleasure of eating at a normal pace with no one pushing you out the door was exceptional!! I could have sat there all evening and talked with my friend which is almost what we did. We checked our time and had a mere 20 minutes to get to the concert. We had to put a sock in it all and run!!!
Today? I haven't done squat!! The wind outside is brutal. The chickens have hunkered down inside their coop and it's nice and cozy in there. Meanwhile I had put a pound of cannellini beans on to soak about 2 days ago. I soaked the beans for 24 hours after sorting and washing them really good, then rinsed them and let them soak another 8 hours. Then I rinsed them again, put water and the beans in a pot and brought it to a boil and have been simmering them now for a couple hours. I added onions, ham and some shredded carrots, salt, savory and pepper and they are delicious. Have any of you ever grown cannellini beans? I haven't and I think I'd like to try next year. Also, all that soaking in water and then also using the savory is supposed to take care of the whole flatulence problem. But . . .
Anyway, tonight we're having beans - go figure - huh? I am also fixing cornbread and am trying to decide if I will fry up some crispy potatoes. I do love them but they are terribly fattening. Maybe a few. What do you think?
Time to get supper on the table. See Ya!
