Our computer had been running extremely slow and freezing up on us so we decided to have him looked at - since neither Hubby nor I are to be considered, even slightly, computer savvy. The week without "him" taught us both a great lesson. The biggest lesson learned was just how much the world has changed, including us.
I always considered myself a reader of books and a seriously old-fashioned person, you know the pen and pencil type, and now I realize I have changed too. I think everyone should try not having a computer available to them for a week or two. We discovered just how dependent we have become on "him". People now have access to all their accounts, we order food and items online, get the current news, look up questions and spellings, keep in contact with our family and friends - it's disgustingly wonderful!! I missed "him" immensely!!! BUT . . . I also found out how much time I spent caressing those lovely keys while letting other stuff go by the wayside, especially since it's Winter and I have this giant excuse that it's too cold to go outside. I discovered that the junk under my bed could actually be pulled out, organized and put away, pictures gathered and organized, commodes cleaned, floors mopped, cakes baked, dust bunnies corralled, etc. Yep, you guessed it - I nearly worked myself to death without "him".
So, I am one happy camper having "him" back in my life . . . but . . . I CAN live without "him". I have dusted off some of my books, have a cleaner home and wow - even found my old dictionary!!! Go figure!!!
