I suppose the question first should be, "What is freedom?"
Does freedom allow you to do whatever you desire?
Does freedom mean having everything you want or for that matter need?
Does freedom mean I might have to be willing to pay to be free?
Maybe I'm off base here - but does freedom come without a cost?
Do we ever even honestly think about our freedoms anymore?
Today we celebrate this country's great Independence Day. My heart is reminding me that until man's soul is free and can soar with the eagles that he cannot begin to understand freedom in the true sense. Maybe that's where things are getting a little confused.
We've forgotten so much. We've forgotten to put others before self, forgotten that our bodies were first formed from the dust of this earth for a purpose, forgotten the men and women that actually put cause before fear . . . we've forgotten so much. All of the forgottens are the very basis of our freedoms. HOW CAN WE FORGET? HOW? We do though. Every time we ignore a call to stand, to open our mouths, to follow graciously, to lead without complaint, to think - for crying out loud - TO THINK!!!! You are free to think!!
July 4 is a day we celebrate our independence as a country. Think about it. You live here in this nation, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
REALLY?!!!!
Will July 4 mean the same to you, to your children and to your grandchildren next year? Will they know the cost of freedom or for that matter, will they even know what it means?
