Finally!!!! I thought the hens would never start laying. I'm pretty sure Diana (one of the Barred Rocks) laid the first egg. Her comb is largest and deep red and that's, from what I read, supposed to be one of the signs. I saw her go in the box day before yesterday but so did Ms. Rhode Island Red - so who knows!!!
I decided today was the day to clean my lavender bed up and what a job indeed it was. Look at the pile on top of my wheelbarrow. That's the second such pile and wasn't the last!! The Winter really did take its toll on my lavender. It was so discouraging but as I've said before Mother Nature doesn't take orders from me.
