I spent a good deal of time working on identifying some herbs and then gathering some too. It had just rained and the sun was barely out. I waited until about 11:00 a.m. when I thought the herbs would be dry enough and went out to cut some for our use now as well as this Winter. This is the most fun ever for me as an herb-loving fool!! Harvesting herbs brings me such joy. There are so many possibilities for each and every plant, root, flower and stem. It's such a joyous time.
First I cut some yarrow. I want to make a tincture with the flowers and leaves. Decisions, decisions, decisions!!!
In case you thought that perhaps I'd forgotten, I haven't. I can NEVER, EVER forget the men and women that have given their lives to honor and protect our nation and our families. They have answered a far greater call then I will ever be able to fathom. I am so thankful for their responsible feats of duty, steadfast courage and willingness to stand for their country. When I "stop and smell the roses" . . . I try and remember that for this and so much more, I owe them - big time!
