I'm making Ghee this morning. I've been reading up on Ghee and clarified butter. Clarified butter - I've made numerous times and did not realize there is a slight difference between clarified butter and Ghee. From what I am reading it looks as though there are some benefits to be attained by consuming ghee in moderate amounts, rather than consuming whole butter. I'm attaching a link here regarding Ghee so you can read for yourself. There are numerous sites but this seems to be clearest and simplest; but again, there's a lot of information out there if you want to do some further investigation. But still, caution persists in my mind and I stand by my motto, "Moderation in All Things."
I'm going to make French Bread today and I have to be honest, I've never actually made French Bread. I've made regular loaf bread, buns and focaccia along with tortillas and such but not French Bread so this is a continuation of my blog a couple days ago regarding the Sourdough Starter. I'm going to make the bread today and I'll let you know later how it turned out. See ya -

My Ghee turned out perfectly. I used a recipe I found earlier on making ghee using a crockpot. I have more time to bake and cook than some but I do get busy, plus I remember what it was like to have kids running around; so I thought the crockpot would be safer and easier for the everyday homemaker than having to carefully watch it on top of the stove and the recipe did not fail me. I'm very pleased. Check my Recipe Page on this one!!
The Bread just came out of the oven. Two things - I need a larger pan to put those 2 loaves on because they rose beautifully but they were too close together or I need to halve the recipe. Also, I didn't have a single-edged razor blade in the house to make the diagonal slashes and tried to use a sharp knife - I really knew better and of course, it didn't work - it deflated the dough - but it still tastes amazing and I learned a lot. This is a recipe that I will definitely make again since my husband and family love French Bread and this bread is really good (she says with a mouthful)!!! It's a little different than I was expecting but really tasty. It's a "keeper".
