This morning after grabbing a gulp of coffee, I pulled on my Winter coveralls and trekked out to the barn. It was all I could do to contain myself. I had visions of snow angels, snow forts, snowballs and sleds. It was simply gorgeous outside.
This is the first snowfall ever for my chickens and the girls were quite hesitant about stepping out of their chicken coop onto the snow. The little ramp that leads outside was covered in the white stuff and you could hear them inside discussing what it was, should they go out, is it touchable . . . it was so very funny. Finally Dianna, the bossy gal, said phooey and out she went but the rest of them weren't as courageous as she. I took out a little straw, brushed the snow off and laid the straw on the ramp and made a little path to their feeder and they slowly but surely, finally made their way to their food. It was a hoot!!
I fed the horses some extra grain and made my way back to the house. I really didn't want to go back into the house but my brittle-feeling fingers were saying something totally different. Winter is going to be a bear if it keeps up like this - but for now it's like, "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" (la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la)!!!
