Finishing Up!

Today I'm finishing up!!  It's the day I dust, vacuum, do a couple extra loads of laundry, change the bedsheets and make my final preparations for desserts, appetizers and prepare for company.  I need to make pie dough and put it in the fridge for Blackberry Cobbler, Pecan Pie and Custard Pie which I will be baking on Monday.  I need to make another dish of Taco Dip and freeze it back since my husband and I sneaked it out of the freezer, heated it up and scarfed it down a few nights ago, but I think that's it  - oh and yes, of all the times to find a new dessert - I've found this wonderful looking picture with accompanying recipe in the BonAppetit Magazine.  You would think being almost 61 I would have made Cream Puffs before but nope!!!  Looks easy to me and I have all the ingredients - so I'm going to try it.  I'll let you know Monday how they turned out.

It's pretty doggone cold here in Indiana but the sun is shining for all it's worth!!!  I have a door that faces East and when the sun is shining and bright it will heat the outer glass door and it feels like you've opened an oven and waves of heat are rolling out.  I stand there so often in the mornings during the Winter and let the sun bathe me.  It seems to soothe those periods in my life when I'm in a contemplative mode, or perhaps somewhat down or worried about something.  As the sun moves higher in the sky I slowly begin to close my door and finally, the door is shut completely.

I filled my bird feeders again yesterday and it didn't take long for the Tufted Titmouse and Downy Woodpeckers to realize the feeders were full again.  Those are amazing little boogers!!!  They will spread the word and soon the feeders will be covered in Dark-Eyed Juncos, Blue Jays, Goldfinches of all types, Cardinals and birds of all sorts.  I can sit at my dining room table and look out and watch them flit around filling their bellies and carrying the seed back to wherever they go.  It's such a joy!

I'm writing my blog this morning.  I usually do it in the afternoon or evening but I know things are going to be crammed full today.  Tomorrow is Sunday so the next time I write it will be Christmas Eve.  Christmas Eve is full of magnificent memories for me - I hope it's full of wonderful memories for you.  Talk to you later!!

My name is Nina.  Southern Indiana has been my home since 1952.  I've been a legal secretary most of my adult life and for my leisure time I enjoy everything connected to the world of herbs and cooking is almost like a "fever".  I am also quite opinionated but try not to push my opinions on others.  My family is grown and I'm left with a wonderful hubby sharing life with me.  I'd guess you'd say my passion is living that life to the fullest.
