enough to go without a jacket or sweatshirt. Summer, of course, doesn’t officially begin until June 21 but it definitely felt like summer this morning!!
It had rained last night and my bench was wet so I sat in the gazebo. When you are sitting in there the animals forget that you are in the garden and after about 15 minutes or so they come out to play. The birds take a bath in the birdbath and they feed their babies - so consequently, I get to find out where their nests are, the rabbit munches away in the clover, the ground squirrels think they can play freely in my bee balm and sometimes the fox will come up and sort of stare around. He’s much more aware than all the other animals. He knows I’m sitting in there watching!
This morning when I started out to the garden I was hit with waves of scents. The garden is growing so fast and blooming like crazy. The roses, the herbs, the honeysuckle - all of it was at its prime this morning. I couldn’t discern
which scent was which. It just seemed to come in waves. It was like walking into a wall of smells or perfumes. I suppose it was because of the rain and the warmth but it felt like you were swimming in an ocean of fragrance.
I had to work today so I had to tear myself away from the garden and get to work. It was an okay day but I was anxious to get home and get out in the garden again. This week I have nothing to do except work in my herb garden and do
whatever kind of cooking I want to do. Yes, of course I’ll have to do the laundry on Wednesday, we gotta have clothes; but I’m definitely going to be making Strawberry Freezer Jam and I’m definitely going to be drying some herbs
for teas and blends. It’s just going to be a great week for me. Then Saturday we are going to visit my brother and his wife, meeting them at Streamcliff Farm and then spending the evening. It will be a great time.
