I also made fruit bars last night. Why I've not made them before escapes me. They were really excellent. I've been looking for something that was slightly sweet, somewhat good for you but was also something quick and easy to make plus contained ingredients that I generally kept around the house. They are perfect for my hubby. Helps keep his sweet tooth at bay and not terribly bad for him. I'll put the recipe on my Recipe Page.
I ran out of mustard yesterday so I'm heading downstairs to the herb kitchen to rustle up some more. I'll put the recipe on the Recipe Page for you to try your own.

When I went to the store yesterday I bought some hotdogs. They were on sale and since we live in picnic heaven here I always have to keep hotdogs on hand!!! When people visit during the summer they will always hint about sitting around the campfire at night and having hotdogs and marshmallows. Consequently, we aim to please, so I always have a bunch of hotdogs and summer sausages in the freezer, along with hotdog buns. What I constantly run out of is ketchup and mustard. We eat mustard on our hamburgers as well so we are always running out of mustard. The "Plochman's" mustard container that I have in my frig says the ingredients are: white distilled vinegar, water, mustard seed, salt, turmeric, onion powder, spices and natural flavoring. Now, mustard is not expensive and I can't tell you how many times I've just dashed into the store and picked up a few items and put in my basket the cheapest yellow mustard I could find. I mean, really, it's just for a hotdog, right? I love Dijon Mustard but I rarely use that on hotdogs!!! But . . . my mustard seed is organic and I know what my spices and natural flavorings are. I like knowing what I'm eating. Here's the clincher, as far as I'm concerned, it's not always about money and it's not always about it being better for you either. I can be honest here. Sometimes it's just knowing "I can!" I can make my own yellow mustard. It tastes almost exactly like store-bought (other than it's a little hotter but that will lessen the longer it sits in the frig) which is exactly what my husband and most people crave for their hotdogs and it's not hard to make. YOU can make your own too!!! Cool, huh?!
