I keep going out each evening and checking on my Fig Tree. Yesterday evening I was out there again! I had this 1 fig at the very tip-top of the tree that was taunting me. It was huge and purple and I could wait no longer. I dragged my stepstool out there and grabbed my salad tongs. I stood on the top step of the stool, held onto the main trunk, stood on my tiptoes and grabbed the fig with the salad tongs. Obviously, I need one of those fruit pickers I see in the magazines all the time, but since I don't have one - I've become inventive. I picked 19 figs yesterday evening and feasted on that huge, purple fig!! It taunts me no more!!!
By the way, how many of you have ever actually used Astragalus? I'm not even talking about growing it! Have you ever even bought any?
Today while I had 1 load of laundry in the washer and 1 in the dryer I went out and grabbed the wild white yarrow I had dried and pulverized it. I packed a glass tube full for our medicine chest and put some in a small glass jar to put back for safekeeping. You always want to keep a small amount of powdered yarrow available for nosebleeds and cuts that never seem to stop bleeding. It makes a great Styptic Powder. I'll put the recipe on my Recipes Page and a pic on my Pictures Page.
