I spent almost the entire day weeding and trying to get my herb garden to actually look like a garden once again. Oh, you cannot imagine what terrible condition it had gotten into. With all the rain we had and all the other responsibilities we have around here the herb garden felt it the hardest.
Hubby and I decided when we bought this place that we would place the herb garden toward the back. We knew, somewhat, what we were getting into. There were a few reason why we placed it in the back. We wanted privacy. We had hoped that we could create somewhat of a micro climate of it's own and we kind of have, but the biggest reason is that with everything we knew we wanted to do with the place and with all the work we knew it would entail, it was most likely least important on the list and would be the last thing we would be working on. Now, to be fair, over the years it's climbed the list but still, the vegetable garden comes first, and so does care for the animals and maintaining our home. Having my herb garden in the back has allowed us to not feel so terribly embarrassed if it has to go by the wayside for awhile. You can't see it unless you go back there! That's the way we planned it and you know, I'm glad we did it that way. Sometimes doing it "all" just can't be done!!
Anyway, I put chicken in the crockpot this morning and about 2:00 p.m. I got out of the frig the green beans I had previously snapped in a pot and they've been cooking for a few hours, and I've got some leftover broccoli casserole warming up in the oven. It's a good thing I didn't really have to cook tonight because this old gal can barely move.
Tomorrow is another glorious day!! See Ya!!
