We went out for Chinese food last night. I didn't realize how badly I needed to get out and socialize, not to minimize the fact that I ate like a pig!!! My goodness, just every now and then it's nice to have someone else do the cooking!! Before we made up our minds to go out I had already started a new recipe for Cheesy Crock Pot Potatoes. As I looked over the recipe I really was hesitant about attempting it. It wasn't hard. It just didn't sound right. There were ingredients that looked as though they were missing. Well, I wasn't wrong. I was so disappointed - but the dish can be salvaged. It just won't be pretty. I made a half batch and I surely am glad I didn't waste the ingredients for a whole batch. It needed some butter and milk, simple as that. Could have been a wonderful dish!
Hubby picked up our pork sausage today. Ten pounds of really tasty stuff - but I had him also buy 10 pounds of whole hog ground pork. I've decided to start putting my own herbs and spices together for the sausage seasoning. It's really not that an unusual thing to do nor is it hard. The blend I make is awfully good and I look forward to using it in my sausage. The nice thing is if I decide I want a hot sausage I have my own ingredients on hand or if I want sage sausage, I have sage as well. I think this might just be the way to go!!
I went outside today and was able to mark 2 items off my list of Spring Duties. I'm going to try to do at least one item each day and I figure by planting time I should have my entire list accomplished. Now, to be sure, a couple of those items will take more than a day but I figure as long as I'm working at it, that's the important part.
I couldn't resist going outside and taking a few pics. It's so nice I can barely stand it!!
