I was busy in the garden today. I had to plant summer squash, zucchini, butternut squash, watermelon, pumpkin, cucumbers, Chinese Green Beans, Swiss Chard, and more tomatoes. Like I need more tomatoes - but I can't just let my babies sit there and die!!! Ughh!!! I probably should just compost them but alas, as soon as I would throw one away someone would say they needed a tomato plant and I would feel just terrible.
Hey, do any of you ever remember way back when - when you were little and dreamed of becoming a Queen with the beautiful long, poofy dresses and long curly hair and you had a castle filled with flowers, a dining hall with candles and glistening dishes, floors that when you walked on them made that vibrating click, click, click, and of course, the shining knight on his dashing steed galloping in to rescue you when you were in danger? Remember? Sometimes I think that's why I like to grow flowers, vegetables and herbs. With my herbs and veggies I get to cook like the maidens in the kitchen; but with flowers I decorate like a Queen in her castle. I figure if you're going to dream you might as well go for it, right?!! Anyway, I've told you all before, I've got a BIG imagination!! Today I cut the first flowers of the season. There weren't many and it's not much of a centerpiece, but they made me feel beautiful and regal. Who needs a crown anyway? They're highly overrated!!
