I woke up this morning at 5:00 a.m. and could not for the life of me go back to sleep. I just kept thinking about all that I had to do today. When I was young you could put me in a room full of people on a wooden bench and I could fall asleep sitting up but not anymore!! Now if I get too much on my mind or get too excited I'm doomed for a night of tossing and turning. I finally got up around 6:00. It was a waste of time lying in bed trying to sleep so I might as well get busy.
I got up, had some coffee and boiled eggs for the egg salad. I then took all the strawberries out of the frig that we had picked last night, about 2 gallon, washed, sliced them up and put them in the freezer. I did 2 loads of laundry, got cole slaw and the egg salad made, got the meat out of the freezer to thaw, made the dressing for the Lemon Burst Broccoli and about 8:00 or 8:30 hubby got up and we sat out on the deck and had coffee together.
Hubby is weed eating and spraying the lake bank today and finishing up the mowing and I went out to my herb garden and weeded and tilled. At 11:30 a.m. I took a break and am writing to you. Now I've got to get back out there and weed eat the gnome garden and the herb garden and I'll be back in to clean house and cook some more. Talk to you later.
-----------------------------------
Whew!! It's 1:15. Weed eating is accomplished and the Gnome Home looks cute as it can be!!! I'm tired and I've got to come up with something for us to eat for lunch. Neither one of us is hungry because we're so hot but I've got to find something. Now for the laundry and cleaning house. I hate this part!
---------------------------------
Finished with everything outside, at least all I intend to do. The herb garden is by no means weed free but I'm holding it at bay anyway. It's just so full and everything is growing so fast that it makes it hard to keep up. Part of the weed problem is just one of those things, several days of rain, but some of it is the fact that I couldn't weed for a few days because of my shoulder and hand. But it really doesn't look half bad. I'm satisfied and I guess that's all that counts.
This tea bread is a beautiful butter color with tiny flecks of green inside the bread. It has a very thin lemon glaze over the top and lays on a bed of lemon thyme blossoms and it is gorgeous!!!
This particular thyme is "common thyme" but my lemon thyme is in my kitchen garden and is blooming as well. I'll have to run down the recipe and see that I get it to you all but honestly, you really must have the blooms to get all the effect!
I have some new pics on my picture page. Check 'em out!
