Hopefully, tonight it will have melted and I will feel safe enough driving in the dark to stop by the grocery store and do my monthly grocery shopping. I have a boatload of stuff to buy for Christmas candy making, bread baking and making casseroles for the freezer. I sent my Pecan Crackers into work with hubby last year at Christmastime and they are still talking about them so I need to buy extra crackers just so I can make more for his workplace. There are just so many Christmas recipes and I'm really getting excited!! I also need to do a little Christmas "present" shopping too. I just adore shopping for my granddaughters. Raising 2 boys, I never had the pleasure of buying girlie things and to be honest it's really hard for me too because I haven't the foggiest what little girls like nowadays - but it's fun checking everything out.
I've been on a soup binge the last few months. I just can't seem to get enough soup! I asked hubby if he would mind having tomato soup tonight and he said fine so I think that's what we're having. I'll be getting home a little later than usual and it's easy enough to fix. Last night we had baked chicken and leftover broccoli casserole and sage dressing from Thanksgiving. I had frozen those leftovers and thought they would be perfect with the meal and indeed they were an awesome addition.
Now-I really need to get busy on Christmas stuff.
-----------------------------
See!?!! It fits perfectly. Now I've got to go get some water and water the poor thing, then tomorrow we'll decorate the tree together when he gets home from work. I'll have all the decorations sitting out along with a cup of hot chocolate and we'll string lights and garland and then I'll hang all the ornaments. That's just the way we do it. We also always do one very important thing. The first year of our marriage we bought two ornamental doves, one male and one female. We have always called them our lovebirds and they have perched in our Christmas tree each year now for almost 40 years. They are looking really bad and are starting to fall apart so I made a nest for them. Well, hubby and I put our birds in our tree together every year in a special place where the birds can hide and be safe!! We are two silly old people, aren't we!! Hubby will then find an empty roll of toilet paper and draw a star on some cardboard, he will cut it out and attach the star to the toilet paper roll and cover it with foil and we'll have our topper for the tree, just the way my Dad always did it when I was growing up. Both hubby and I were so touched the year each of our sons got married and had their first Christmas. We saw pictures of each of their Christmas trees and we ooohed and aaahed - and on the top of each tree, much to our surprise . . . . . . was a foil covered star. We both nearly cried.
