Family reunions seem to have gotten way out of hand and simply don't feel relevant anymore. My idea was to bring it back to more the old-fashioned kind, where you gather together once a year, eat and enjoy each other. One where you actually talk and laugh and reacquaint yourself with some of those you may see only once a year.
We've become such a mobile nation and as a people, demand instant gratification. Always able to contact and speak with anyone whenever we want, we've lost that wonderful feeling of anticipation. We no longer have that yearning to converse with our family, to talk, to laugh, and to cry - without some type of pat on the back or reward! We yearn instead for self satisfaction. "We" want to have fun - and always want to head home feeling like "we" have had a good time when reunions are for memories, for our children and for "we" to share our lives and our time with our relation. Hey, I'm all for having a good time but it's not all about me.
I personally believe that as the world evolves into a more dangerous, difficult and stressful place to live we will find ourselves yearning once again for the old-fashioned reunions where people honestly talked, played and looked forward to being together out of a deep seeded love of family.
