came out, "The Bible", and it gave us the opportunity to watch most of it.
I got up this morning and walked out to check on the veggie and herb garden. I do believe everything grew about an inch!! The nights have been in the 50's around here and warmth at night always spurs growth. Even though I have just
recently planted the borage seed, it’s already up. The chamomile is coming through and I do believe I might be seeing some salad burnet. I planted the cannas and dahlias a week or more ago and still they have not come through. I don’t know if they are waiting on heat to pop through or if perhaps they are not going to make it. Gosh, I certainly hope I haven’t lost my dahlias and even though there were tons of cannas and I didn’t need so many, I certainly wouldn’t want to lose them all!!
It will only take one good hot day and my chives will be in full bloom!! I planted my Roselle out in the herb garden and it seems to be doing just fine. Oh, wouldn’t it be wonderful to have my own hibiscus blooms for tea!!
My bluebird babies are growing and I’m thinking they may leave their nest this week. They have their feathers and are really getting noisy when they are being fed. It was so funny yesterday when I looked out the window. There was this ugly sort of small, blue-black bird sitting on the deck railing in the rain all wet and scraggly looking with a worm in its mouth. It looked at me as if to say "Whew, I’m exhausted!" and then flew to the bluebird box. Honestly, I had no idea it was one of the adult bluebirds - it looked so wet and worn out!! Kind of brought back memories of the many nights my boys kept me up when they were little guys---I know the feeling well!!!
I’m feeling ever-so-much better today but I don’t think I’m going to push it this evening when I get home. I certainly do not want a set-back!! I think I’ll just head on home, do a couple loads of laundry, make supper and rest. I set out some ground venison. I thought I might just fry up the venison and make gravy, prepare some mashed potatoes and throw a can of green beans in a pan. I’ve been pushing the green beans hard. I’ve got a lot of them leftover from last year and I’m trying to eat up what I’ve got. Then again, I may just pick up a frozen pizza. It's been a long day!
We had chicken fingers and broccoli casserole last night for supper. I’ve got a boatload of broccoli, as well as corn, in the freezer too - so, I’m trying to find ways to fix the frozen vegetables so that we can clear some room in the freezer!! Even though I moan about all the frozen foods left from last year, don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful to have them.
