It seems to be getting cooler every day so today I put another couple flakes of straw in my chicken coop to keep the chickens warm. I also picked another 4 figs. I've not made the fig preserves yet. I keep holding off for just a few more figs. I did pick two eggplant and a few green peppers. It's supposed to frost here the end of this week and I'm busy gathering some of the plants, fruits and vegetables that would be most likely damaged by the frost.
While I was out I picked some Holy Basil/Tulsi Basil and brought it in to dry. I still have a boatload of other basil out there and will probably be gathering it tomorrow. I just didn't have time today. I had to get in the house and do another couple loads of laundry and before I knew it - it was time to get ready for work.
Even though I will have a jar or two of fig preserves yet to preserve, I put all of my canning equipment up today. I also made some convenient oatmeal packets for hubby's breakfast or for a snack. These are made from scratch and are so much healthier and cheaper than buying them from the store and all he has to do is microwave or heat up water on the stove, stir in his packet and he's eating in a matter of minutes. They are just terribly handy!
By the way, see my persimmon pulp? My girlfriend has been a lifesaver! I love persimmons and she has a steady supply right now, with 2 trees dropping more daily.
