Short due to the fact that I've been out running around doing the grocery shopping. It's 1:00 p.m., I just got home and I'm typing while eating leftover crockpot pizza that I pulled out of the freezer yesterday evening. I had to go to several stores to get what I wanted - but the one thing I went after I DID get and that was the Thanksgiving Turkey!!! HOORAY!!! I'm under a time constraint today due to the fact that my manager called and asked if I could come in and cover for somebody else. I couldn't say no. I knew he needed the help.
One comment I have on today though, and of course, this is just between you and me. Have you ever had a cashier or store employee that no matter what you did, she/he was going to be a bear or be really negative? Every time I run into that type of person I try to think of all the reasons why she or he is so unhappy. In this particular instance, today, it was an older lady and I tried so hard to be nice, cheery, and talk to her without bugging her; but there was no way she was going to spark up. Doggone it!! That is so depressing for the customer. Yet, I decided to make up my own scenario. I figure she's working just because she has to take care of her grandson or granddaughter who quite possibly is ungrateful . . . or maybe they are sick . . . or perhaps she has recently lost a loved one and just CAN'T talk . . . or maybe she's in unbearable pain! Anyway, I tried to cheer her and finally, as I left and said thanks, have a great day, she said - "enjoy your day". She never cracked a smile but I guess she was trying. Dare I use the old proverb . . . “before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes”.
Sweet due to the fact that I'm at peace and ever-so thankful.
Talk to you tomorrow.
