This morning when I got up it was wet, very wet. I was up a great deal of the night and it rained quite a bit but I never dreamed we got as much rain as we did. I went out into the garden and I actually had to back out because I was sinking - not a lot - but a little. We needed the rain so no complaints here. I am so excited about the day - it's a wonderful day and I get to play in my herb garden or I could can tomatoes. I like to do both so the day ahead holds nothing but enjoyment for me.

I got sidetracked this morning and decided to weed and clean out our strawberry bed. It produced for the first time this year and we were extremely happy with the results. I think I've told you before I planted "Sunrise". I have always found them to be reliable. They are not the biggest nor are they very small. They are always good tasting and really decent producers. I raised them back in 1977 in my very first strawberry bed!! Anyway, they needed cleaned out so hubby took down the fence that surrounds them and I weeded!! Wow! The weeds were worse than I thought. It was a good thing I cleaned them out today since with the ground being wet it made it a lot easier. This Fall we will cover them with straw and next Spring take the cover of straw off and put the fence back up so we can cover them with netting. This is raising strawberries with your head and not your back (except for the weeding, mind you!!! Yikes!).
I have this inner sickness in the pit of my stomach that they are telling me they won't be here much longer. I'm even wondering if they came back today to tell us good-by. I know I make them sound almost human but there's just something about Purple Martins that is unlike any other bird. That's all I can say about that. If you check out my Pictures Page I'll have a few more pics on there.
Tomorrow is Sunday so you all have a great day and I will talk to you again on Monday. See Ya!!!
