This morning I was not your favorite person to be around. I was a wee bit grumpy. This old gal needs her sleep. Hubby was already out on the deck having coffee when I decided to join him. He said good morning and I - it’s embarrassing to say - mumbled something reminiscent of a growl, of some exotic creature, I’m sure!! TeeHee!! Everything outside was so fresh and clean smelling that after about 2 cups of coffee even I was feeling rather blissful!!
I then headed downstairs to clean the basement, put clean sheets on the bed, and then I began to think about supper. When I left for work this morning it was my intention to have meat loaf sandwiches. We had meatloaf yesterday with green beans and baked potato with sour cream and chives. It was an excellent meat loaf and will make great sandwiches, but I hadn’t given any thought to what I was going to fix to go with the sandwiches. I love to cook, don’t get me wrong, but there are days when I draw a major blank. After a lifetime of coming up with 2-3 meals a day, almost every day, sometimes it’s almost mind-numbing. I decided finally to get some broccoli out of the freezer and make a light cheese sauce to go over it and finish off the pear sauce left in the frig. Not one of my more exciting meals but it worked.
Tomorrow I get to start preparing for my week-end guests. My niece has requested her Nanny’s potato salad. I thought I would make some baked beans to go with that and since they are bringing the steaks, I’ll just fix some garlic bread and a dessert and that will be that. Yum!!!
