We left early in the morning yesterday on our way to Indianapolis to visit our son and his family. Our granddaughter was dancing and having a piano recital and lands, we couldn’t miss that! The tiniest member of the family gave Papaw 4 or 5 great big kisses on the cheek so he was bubbling over on the drive home. It’s pretty disgusting how those two granddaughters have him wrapped!!!
Anyway, by the time we got home the Sorbet Peony that had only buds when we left that morning was in full bloom. Just gorgeous!! Tonight after work I’ve got to do some grocery shopping but when I come home I’m cutting a huge bouquet of flowers for the dining room table!!! Of course, that’s not all I’m doing when I get home tonight. WE HAVE STRAWBERRIES!!!! I’m so excited I can’t stand it. We promised ourselves we were having fresh strawberries and cream when they first came on so that's on my menu for dessert this evening but I’m really anxious because I’m wanting to make some freezer jam too. Looks like there will be plenty!! We’re also having company this week-end so I’m thinking Strawberry Shortcake just might be "the berries!!"
I was hooting and hollering this morning doing a victory dance over the strawberries and unknown to me my husband was up on the deck and noticed that back on the hill behind the grape arbor was a big doe and she was standing there watching me dance. He said she was just staring at me and decided I was not quite right, flicked her ears, turned around and walked off, not at all afraid. We live a pretty crazy life here but it’s never dull!
