As far as herb seeds or plants are concerned I'm going to try out a new hardneck garlic called "Music". Of course it won't be delivered until this Fall, but supposedly its cloves are extra large and it tempted me beyond my abilities to maintain control. Also, I haven't grown Safflower in awhile and saved no seed so it's about the only new item I'm adding to my herb garden. Cardinals love Safflower seeds and they are very pretty flowers. They are an important source of good quality cooking oil and are used as a saffron substitute in rice dishes. I'll use them for seed, flowers and cooking. I'm ordering several herbs but nothing that I haven't ordered and already have had in my garden. Usually I grow Lemon, Cinnamon, Purple Ruffles, Italian and Large Leaf Basil but this year I'm also going to be ordering Sacred (Holy) Basil seed to use in medicinal recipes.
I've been busy in the basement today. At last I have all my pictures organized. It ONLY took me 2 weeks but I've finally accomplished that major feat. BORING!!!!!! I've also cleaned out a closet and threw away a bunch of old magazines. I'm trying desperately to keep things neat and everything in order but it's so hard to throw away stuff you think you just might need later on, but I don't want to become a hoarder!!! If I don't get rid of some of the stuff I'll be walking around boxes of junk and I'm NOT having that!!!
There's a Coopers Hawk that has been visiting our lake area. He's still a juvenile but even at that he's a rather big rascal. The birds seem to be on to him though. They become mighty scarce when he's around. I got out my binoculars today to check him out. I wanted to make sure what kind of hawk he was and there's no doubt, he's a Coopers Hawk. He's really pretty too but he needs to bug somebody else's birdfeeder!!!!!
I'm fixing pheasant for dinner this afternoon along with some curried rice and roasted butternut squash. Tonight I've got plans to have tea for my hubby and myself in the living room. I love to do this! I get my tea warmer out and fill a teapot full of tea and bring it into the living room, light a candle and my poor guy has to drink tea out of one of those little itty bitty dainty tea cups but he does it just for me. That's okay cause I let him leave the T.V. on - just for him. What a pair we are!!!
