I finally felt like walking about outside in the gardens today so I knew I was better. The vegetable garden changes every day. It’s growing at a very fast pace. Squash is ready, zucchini is ready, and raspberries will HAVE to be picked tonight, and that’s that. I will probably also pick some green beans for our supper tomorrow evening. Tonight we’re having fish and french fries. I thought about dropping by the store and buying some frozen fries but I think I’m just going to get a few potatoes and make some home fries and maybe some hush puppies as well. I am going to cut a couple heads of the early sweet cabbage and make some cole slaw with one head. Tomorrow I’ve decided to make chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy and stir-fried green beans. That’s about as far as I’ve gotten when it comes to meal planning. I am so busy running all the plans for the wedding reception appetizers and placement of dishes, etc. through my brain that I can’t seem to focus on the ordinary jobs of preparing meals and keeping a home.
Sometime in the next couple days I’m going to make kale chips. This is something I have never prepared nor have I ever eaten. I hope they are as good as everyone says!! After the reception it is also my intention to make some beet chips and sweet potato chips. These are just items that I’ve wanted to try and it also gives me something to look forward to after this fiasco with the reception is accomplished. I know from past experience when I get all worked up, complete a feat of considerable effort, the next few days are terribly empty - I’m ready this time. Of course by then I’ll probably have to slide right into canning. The season is upon us you know!!

Indeed, while I was out I picked zucchini, squash, green beans and cucumbers. Not a lot of them but enough for have for a couple days of meals.
Right now, I need to run out and cut those heads of cabbage and make some cole slaw for tonight so you all have a nice evening. I'm fixing to have my own private fish fry!!! Yum!!
