My youngest son and his wife are coming home for Christmas this year and then they are splitting up for a couple days. She's going to see her Mother in the Chicago area and he's staying here. Then she will be back by Christmas Eve. While she's gone I get to fix all the wild meat I want for my youngest. I'm afraid my daughter-in-laws haven't yet learned the necessity of eating Bambi, Big Bird, Thumper or various other critters. It took me awhile too so I'm very patient and understanding and I absolutely will NOT try to sneak it in on them. I probably could, but I know I wouldn't have appreciated it, so I don't do it to them. But my sons grew up on the stuff, so when I can, I indulge them at every opportunity!!!
This was my last day at work due to the Thanksgiving Holidays and I was trying to get everything I could accomplished so there wouldn't be a landslide of work when I got back to the office on Monday. I didn't do half bad either. I was downright pooped by quitting time. I earned every penny today!!
My oldest son, his wife and my 2 granddaughters are going to be here the day after Thanksgiving so that's when we are celebrating. I've got a big 20 pound turkey and all the trimmings!! Every year when my granddaughters come to Granny's for Thanksgiving, I open the oven wide and let them peek in to see the giant Thanksgiving turkey and we ooooh and ahhhh like silly nuts but I've got a feeling they're not likely to forget this special tradition!! Tonight I put clean bedsheets on the beds, got the upper bunk on the bunk bed in the basement prepared and I think I'm just about ready -------- to begin the Thanksgiving cooking countdown!!! You ask, the bunk bed? Oh yes, this year my oldest granddaughter has permission to sleep in the top bunk. She's pretty excited about it too. I'm excited for her!! I've told her tales of how my brothers and I used to use our bunk bed as a submarine and how sometimes we pretended that we were under the sea and we would swim for land. Sometimes the top bunk was even a rooftop for Santa with his sleigh full of toys. Our imaginations had no end and it all began with a bunk bed. Oh, how I hope her imagination runs wild too!!!

By the way Hubby and Sam came home with 2 big beautiful pheasants. Yum! I can taste them now!!
