Oh and I forgot to let you know how many potatoes I canned. You saw the picture of the sink full of potatoes! I ended up with 19 quarts. That's amazing and plenty for the Winter. In a tight spot I'm sure I could even find a way to mash those babies. I'm pretty happy with the results, and to think, we almost didn't even dig them! I will say this, they were a lot of trouble cleaning and getting them ready to put in the pressure canner; but even at that, well worth the trouble because I know how good they're going to taste this Winter!
I worked in the basement garage most of the morning trying to get it halfway straightened up. Aghh!! That, dear friends, is one gigantic storage area for EVERYTHING!!! There's no rhyme or reason to what is stored in there and it looks like it too! I wanted to get it a little straightened because I'm moving a bunch of canned goods out there. My pantry runneth over! Not complaining - just saying! I'll never get it completely cleaned out but I got a good start and hit it hard.
Hubby was working himself into the ground today and it's just too hot. I went out and helped him mow and I know what I'm saying. It's way too hot!! I did take about 1-1/2 hours off his mowing but sometimes I wonder how that man does it!!
After I cooled off I went out to the herb garden and it's becoming increasingly clear we need some rain. Things have just come to a standstill. The chia hasn't grown one bit nor flowered, the fig tree is doing okay since it does well in heat, but the basil plants are flowering as fast as I pinch them off. On the way out of the herb garden I plucked another passion flower vine and am making tea for this evening. If I don't drink it all tonight and tomorrow I'll just freeze it up and use it later.
