Mondays and Meatloaf

It’s truly been a wet, dreary day but one can’t complain about the temperatures here.  Temperatures in the 50’s are a real gift in January  but they’re certainly not going to last nor should they I suppose.  It feels like a wisp of Spring – but everyone knows better!!

My daughter-in-law sent me a picture today of their little deck and yard in Virginia.  She was undoubtedly ecstatic!!  She’s from the Chicago area and living in Virginia is like “night and day” as far as seasons are concerned.  She’s been wanting some “real snow” for awhile now.  She says it just doesn’t feel like Winter.  I probably didn’t help things relaying to her the inches of snow that fell here in Indiana this year . . . but finally, she got her snow.  It looked to be about a quarter of an inch, if that, but it was snow!!  Bless her heart!!

Nothing much happened here today.  I had to work, went to the bank to deposit some money on my lunch hour and then dropped by Rural King to look at all their seeds.  I think I stood there looking at each packet for about 20 minutes – just dreaming.  Gosh, I’m really, really ready for some serious gardening!!   I checked out the new yard decorations and birdhouses and felt a little better walking back to my car in the rain!!   Yes, I walked!  It wasn’t raining hard and it felt so good outside and I couldn’t let anyone at RURAL KING think that I was some prissy girl, though heaven only knows I can be the most prissy girly-girl around  - change clothes and shovel a load of horse manure!  Hey, you do what you gotta do!!!  And I love it!

By the way, check out my pics.  The daffodils are up already!

We had meatloaf, green beans & corn, and applesauce for supper tonight.  I’ve sworn off bread for awhile.  I’ve got to get some of this excess weight off.  I could care less about desserts but show me bread, cheese and potatoes and I’m a goner - but we all have our weaknesses, right?  I keep saying, “moderation” . . . “moderation” . . . “moderation” . . . but the bread, cheese and potatoes keep saying, “here piggy, piggy”, “here piggy, piggy”.

AGHHHH!!!!!!!

My name is Nina.  Southern Indiana has been my home since 1952.  I've been a legal secretary most of my adult life and for my leisure time I enjoy everything connected to the world of herbs and cooking is almost like a "fever".  I am also quite opinionated but try not to push my opinions on others.  My family is grown and I'm left with a wonderful hubby sharing life with me.  I'd guess you'd say my passion is living that life to the fullest.
