Yesterday on my walk out to the herb garden I noticed that with the heat came "figs". Yes!!!! I was so glad to see those babies. Now, if the Summer is long we should have some nice figs. If it is short we'll have a few but at least we'll get some. I was beginning to worry but with that hot sun - yahoo!!
I've been trying to stay on top of the vegetable garden and tonight after I get back from the luncheon I'm attending I am going to get to work dehydrating some more onions. I'm really pleased with the results and it beats watching them rot!! Hubby was fine with the whole idea. Just knowing they would be useful was enough for him to give a thumbs-up. I've also got some zucchini in the frig and I think tomorrow I might make some zucchini bread. We really don't need any sweet breads right now but zucchini bread freezes really well and I've got company coming this Fall so it will come in handy. I'm also picking jalapenos and stashing them in the refrigerator drawer. I will probably be making Cowboy Candy sometime the end of this week too. There's a very special Master Chief that LOVES hot stuff and has requested my Cowboy Candy. Gotta keep our Navy men happy!!!

I went to the luncheon today and it was simply wonderful. Table was dressed to the nines and centered with a beautiful parsley pot that was simply gorgeous. The meal was so enjoyable and the company even better. The best of all though was the blackberry pie with ice cream. My-my-my!!!
After my visit I did the monthly grocery shopping. I came in $3 under budget but it was not easy and it was not a good grocery shopping experience. In fact, it was a little depressing. My dollar just isn't stretching as far here lately. I have a garden and I'm ever so grateful. How DO people do it without one?
