First job that needed to be accomplished was sorting the laundry. I had already taken care of sheets, pillowcases, towels and washrags after my granddaughter left so now I'm down to clothes. I sorted them all and took them to the basement.
I went out to the barn and cleaned the chicken pen, fed and watered the chickens and then I came in, sat down at the table and made a list of what needed to be canned or frozen in the next couple days. I've got more corn, cabbage, broccoli, and zucchini to freeze plus hubby is picking up some peaches on Saturday and I will be canning those. I'm also thinking about canning corn on the cob. I've never done that before but I don't see why I couldn't, do you? Next week I will probably be canning up some new red potatoes and it won't be long now and I'll be neck deep in tomatoes.
I have 2 freezers, one is dedicated to meats and one to vegetables and whatever. I got into them both and straightened them up, organized them a little better and took out a bunch of milk jugs that I had frozen water in. I keep those jugs in the freezer in case of any electrical outages. That way the food in the freezer will stay frozen a little longer. It's just one of those things I do for "emergency" purposes. I had to take them out this morning because there just isn't anymore room for veggies if I don't; and like I said, I've got more veggies to freeze yet. My eggplant is looking pretty good and so are the peppers so after today it looks like I go into full swing.

The luncheon was a tasty treat, made especially wonderful sitting and gabbing with old friends. I just really had a good time. It was great to be out and doing something besides gardening BUT not for long!!!
Look what hubby did while I was gone. Aren't they beautiful?!!!
