--------------------------------
I'm back and I just finished tucking my granddaughter in bed. You could tell she was really tired but she made the trip back and never closed her eyes once. I think she's a little excited too to be with her granny and papaw.
It was a fun reunion and it was so good to see the family. We all had lunch together at a restaurant in that area and went to my brother's house to play, talk, laugh and just generally give each other the dickens!!! We all got to make over how this little one had grown or how cute that one was, how grown up young ladies seemed to look nowadays and how some things never seem to change. My brother grilled out cabbage in foil packets with cheese and seasoned pepper and salt (something I had never had) and hamburgers and hotdogs while some of the family swam in the pool and kids played games. It rained but it didn't dampen the spirit at all. My nephew and his wife were still selling peaches out of their Dad and Mom's garage and they had some people drop by to buy their peaches. They won't be sorry for that!! Later his wife was asking about grilling peaches so that's just exactly what we did. Peach halves get those nice grill marks and then when you turn them over and let them sit in the heat for awhile the juices rise and they look scrumptious. We then drizzled honey on them and at about that moment my niece walked by and said oh, wouldn't some basil just be perfect with that - and right she was - it would have just topped it off perfectly. She mentioned that cinnamon basil would be even better and I couldn't have agreed more. Peaches and basil are a perfect combination.
We finally traipsed home and I hated leaving my other granddaughter with her Mom and Dad. I can't wait until I have 2 little girls giggling in bed at my house. The sound would remind me of the years I spent at my grandmas. She and I would lay there and giggle ourselves to sleep.
Time to rest. Good night.
