Gosh it WAS hot and extremely humid!! We went outside about 6:45 p.m. to collect plantain leaves for our Orange Plantain Butter and nearly melted. It was over 90 degrees at the time. I taught her about the greater plantain and the lesser and showed her both kinds. Then we both put some in our mouths, toward the back and chewed it a little and spit it out into our hands so we could see it. That little pile of plantain and spit will help bee stings, mosquito bites and will even help draw a splinter out. If you're ever out camping in the woods or the wild and don't have anything with you - it works!! I honestly don't know if she'll remember anything I've taught her but if just a little seeps in that's good enough. We then grabbed some mint and chewed on that and spit it out to freshen our breath, put some in our pan and headed back to the house to make our butter. We've had quite an eventful day. So much to do - so little time!!

Today is our last full day to play - tomorrow she goes home. Papaw is home today so she's hoping to ride Missi and swim in the lake and perhaps we'll make mud pies. I've got to be honest, I'm getting wee bit antsy, the green beans look like they need to be picked, more broccoli and cabbage needs to be cut, raspberries need picking and the garden is definitely calling my name. JUST ONE MORE DAY - JUST GIVE ME ONE MORE!!! It's been so much fun!!

It was raining outside this morning while we had out coffee, my granddaughter had juice. I went inside and took the 3 leftover biscuits and heated them up and we had biscuits, Orange Plantain Butter and a banana for breakfast. The rain didn't last thank goodness! After that, Papaw and she went out to the barn to work and I cut cabbage and put it in the frig and cut broccoli, cleaned, cut it up and put it in the freezer. I also picked the raspberries. Whew!! At least I got the worst of it taken care of. Meanwhile guess what . . .
