I also have been fixing grapefruit here lately for our breakfast instead of hot oatmeal and I had a large zip-loc bag full of grapefruit, orange and lemon peelings so I decided it was time to make Homemade Orange Peel Cleaner. I made this a couple times last year. It is an organic cleaner that actually does a really good job, smells amazing and will repel insects too. It can be used inside or out - diluted in water to mop or leave full strength to use as a spray. I simply love the stuff. So I took all my peelings and stuffed two big jars full, dropped in some cinnamon sticks and would have put a couple vanilla beans in too except that I only have 1, so I'll have to perhaps put a little homemade vanilla in right before I use it. I filled the jars with white vinegar and they will sit now for at least a month. Then I will strain and it will be ready to use. Much better than all those foul smelling, unknown caustic ingredients I could be using! (See Homemade Orange Peel Cleaner on Recipes page)
I'm off to fix supper. We're having Beef & Brown Gravy, leftover mashed potatoes, leftover beans & corn and so that it will all go down well, homemade biscuits and jam.
Talk to you later!
