I had some leftover coffee, about a pint, so I added 3/4 of a pint of whole milk, 1/3 cup sugar, and 1 Tsp. of Vanilla and put it in a quart jar in the refrigerator. I'll put it in a pitcher with ice later this evening and we will have a treat. We both like iced coffee and this will be great, for a change, after we've finished mowing the lawn.
I then mopped the bathroom floors and cleaned the herb kitchen. The kitchen was fast getting out of control. Through the Summer I cut and dry stuff and then it just sort of sits around or gets put into jars with labels but is just left sitting in the kitchen until I can get back downstairs to put it all in order. When you've got such a huge garden of vegetables to preserve, you do what you gotta do!! So I've got things pretty much in order now.
The herbs have been calling my name for awhile now so I just got busy and decided it time I made some garlic salt for hubby. He absolutely loves my homemade garlic salt and it's honestly not a big deal. It's 1 cup sea salt, 1/4 cup garlic granules and 2 Tbs. crushed parsley. He can't live without his garlic salt and we've been out for a week or so. He'll be totally happy to have it for his pizza tonight. I was also out of red pepper flakes so I crushed some of my dried red peppers and fixed us right up!! Oh goodness, it feels so good to be busy with herbs!
Speaking of pizza, it was time to get my pizza makings in order. I like to have the sauce made, the sausage fried, and all the fresh vegetables sliced and waiting in the frig. Then when I'm ready to put the pizza together it doesn't seem like such a big deal. I make my own pizza dough using the food processor and it's a cinch. The dough has to rise for only 45 minutes, is really good and is a great recipe. I always crumble and fry a whole pound of sausage but only use half of it on the pizza. Tomorrow for supper I'll scramble some eggs, throw in some diced onion and the other half of the sausage, pull out some tortillas and shredded cheese, chop up some green peppers and cherry tomatoes and we'll have some awesome breakfast burritos for supper!!! |
