Today I'm having a play date/work-on-herbal-program date. Could it get any better? Not for me!! I've been outside harvesting herbs all morning. So far I've cut and put some herbs on drying racks and hung some to dry, have been dehydrating some mammoth leaf basil and have been having a blast. I have harvested stevia, mullein, marshmallow leaf, borage leaves and blossoms, sweet basil, cinnamon basil and lemon basil, orange bergamot mint, lemon verbena, pineapple sage, lemon balm, calendula and rosemary. Now that the first batch is taken care of, I'm on my way out for more. I've got to cut lemon thyme, purple sage, regular sage, bee balm, chives, oregano, passion flower leaves and pick some hops. Busy, busy, busy. Talk to you later!
Whew! It's hot out there. Well, the herbs have all been cut and are in the preservation stage of the game. The only thing I haven't accomplished yet is freezing the chives. I like to roll chives up in a piece of plastic wrap, twist tie the ends and then put them in the freezer. Then when I need some chives I just slice off what I need. Chives always taste so good in biscuits and having them in the freezer ready to go in the Wintertime is such a flavor boost!
I've got the bare bones of my herb program all typed up in triple space and my dining table looks like a hurricane hit it. That picture, folks, is my brain laid bare!! LOL!! I warned Hubby this morning that the table was going to look like this for a few days and he said "no problem." We'll be eating on t.v. tables for a couple days and he loves that!!
