Today it is wet and windy here in Indiana and kind of yucky but it’s supposed to get colder and turn to snow!!! I love snow, especially when it snows a lot! I love that clean look of perfection - until it starts to melt and the snow plow drags up the mud. The first Winter, right before the sale of our home went through, it snowed and snowed and snowed. The insurance agent had been to the house to check everything out and was so struck by the sight that he took a picture and sent it to us. He wanted us to see how beautiful it was. Wasn't that a thoughtful gift? We’ve had many a snow since then and it gets even more beautiful year after year because year after year we love it ever more. It’s such a place of contentment and peace. It’s a place we desire to share with our friends and family. It feels so abundant here that you can’t help but share.
It is my hope this coming year I’ll become a little more technically sound and I will be able to take some pictures and add them to my blog. I’d love for you to see our heron fishing for his supper, our horses rolling in the pasture, the red raspberries dripping from their stems looking like red rubies and of course, the different colors of green in my herb garden. Oh, would I love to show you my herbs and the many different colored heirloom tomatoes that we grow. Keep your fingers crossed. I’m trying!!
This evening I’m a little tired. I baked all day yesterday - but I did get everything done. All is in its place and waiting for company, ready for our son’s visit and ready for Christmas. But tonight I think I’m going to have a little downtime. I’ve already clued my husband into the fact that he’s having vegetable soup, some that I canned up for such times as these. I made a few of my Witches’ Cheese Balls for the holidays so we’ll have cheese and crackers on the side. Someone asked me a question about my Witches’ Cheese Ball. They wanted to know where the name came from. When I came up with this cheese ball recipe my son sat at the table and wrote each of the ingredients down because he had really enjoyed it and then said okay, Mom, now what do we call it. All my nieces and nephews tease me about being an old witch, including my own kids ---- so guess what he decided would be a good name?
I’ve got apple juice and cranberry juice in the fridge. I’ll think I’ll heat those two up together and put in some mulling spices and have a couple hot cups ready for us to drink later in the evening. It will be such a nice cozy evening! Life is such a gift!!
