I was outside for several hours today trying to figure out something to keep the flies at bay in the chicken coop. Flies make me crazy. I can't stand them!! I made a white vinegar spray that contained peppermint essential oil, basil essential oil, lime peel essential oil and vanilla. The flies didn't like that spray one bit. I also cleaned out the coop and put down some more diatamacious earth. I'd already cleaned the run so other than giving them fresh cold water there wasn't too much to do out there. I think I'm going to go cut some rosemary and lavender and tie up some bundles and hang them by the nesting boxes. Hubby is bringing home some fly strips and that ought to help some. Got some suggestions? I'm all ears!
Well, you all stay cool because the weatherman is saying that we should expect another 91 degree day tomorrow!! Oh, oh, oh, I almost forgot. Elderberries are in full bloom. Don't forget to get out there and get some of the blossoms for fritters and later when the berries come on, whatever you do, make sure you harvest those. They make a wonderful cough and cold syrup for your Winter medicine chest.
Bye!
