Oh well, everybody's gotta learn!!
I've been busy stripping black peppermint that my brother found for me. He is such a good guy and he loves to scavenge the fields for herbs and plants. He's been my "weed-hoppin'" partner now for years. We talk, laugh and thoroughly enjoy our walks in the fields and woods. He brought me the big box pictured below of peppermint AND also another big box of peppermint and spearmint. I finally got all of the peppermint in this box stripped and will begin work on the next box soon. I also had some Passion Flower leaves, Holy Basil, Borage, Lemon Basil, Cinnamon Basil, Sweet Basil and Lavender sitting on my drying racks that needed to be stripped. After I got them stripped and put into glass jars, I vacuumed and straightened the basement up. I wiped down the racks and put them up for the year. It's been a pretty good herb year. Oh, by the way, some of the shorter chia plants that were beneath the taller plants have begun to bloom. It's a really pretty bloom and I will try and get a picture for you. It won't be pretty but I would like for you to see the bloom. I don't expect there will be time enough for it to go to seed but at least I got to see a portion of its growth. I know my pic is not great but at least you can sort of see what they actually look like when they are beginning to bloom. If they have enough time to go to seed I'll get you a pic of that but I wouldn't count on it. I'll have to start the chia indoors next Spring, I think, if I want any to grow fully to seed.
Oh well, everybody's gotta learn!!

AuthorMy name is Nina. Southern Indiana has been my home since 1952. I've been a legal secretary most of my adult life and for my leisure time I enjoy everything connected to the world of herbs and cooking is almost like a "fever". I am also quite opinionated but try not to push my opinions on others. My family is grown and I'm left with a wonderful hubby sharing life with me. I'd guess you'd say my passion is living that life to the fullest. Archives
