I got up this morning and stumbled out onto the deck with my coffee, sat in my lounge chair and gazed at the billowy, blue and white clouds in the sky and listened to the Purple Martins chatter. It’s so funny. At 6:15 a.m. the Purple Martin are nowhere to be seen. Then about 6:25 they fly in overhead. We’ve decided that they have made a trip to McDonald’s to get breakfast and visit with their coffee clutch and then head home about that time. It’s crazy but every morning this is what they do. I don’t know yet what time they leave their box to go to breakfast, but it’s so fun when they return; and you can tell they’ve been gossiping something fierce, because the chattering is unbelievable!!
I went in early to work and dropped off some peaches at my friend’s home along with some zinnias which I happen to know she loves. I nosed around her yard. Everything is just beautiful. She keeps such a manicured garden. Her Miss Muffet Daisies are gorgeous and her bee balm and hops look magnificent. I could go on and on because she has one of those little, like cottage type yards that so makes me envious. It allows one to dream of sitting out on her porch having one of those fancy, refined tea parties.

Oh wow!!! I just walked in from the garden, stripped down and put on something dry. Whew, the humidity is horrid!! I picked more raspberries, zucchini, yellow squash and cucumbers, and by the time I got those picked I had had it. Goodness, it's awful outside. I came in and cooked up some spaghetti and garlic bread for supper.
I'm not sure I'll be doing much more tonight. I'm going to have to get up really early tomorrow and get started. This is murderous weather!!
Guess I'd better get busy finishing the laundry for the week so I can have all day tomorrow to get my work done.
Helen of Troy was said to have been grasping a handful of the plant to her breast when Paris stole her away. Another legend describes the plant springing from the Goddess Helena's tears.
