Let me first tell you that chickweed, in my humble opinion, tastes EXACTLY like lettuce. I simply love it and use it in place of lettuce whenever I have the opportunity. It is delicious. Honestly, as an infusion/tea, it tasted a little like very mild lettuce too but I added honey and warmed it so that my body would have an easier time uptaking the minerals. I was actually very impressed and wouldn't mind having this as a tea almost any evening. Very mild, did NOT cause me to be up all night (if you know what I mean) so I was happy. I took all the chickweed greens that came out of the jars and fed them to the chickens this morning. Here are some side notes: I drank it cold as well and it's fine. I drank it without honey and the only difference there is a little more lettucey taste comes through (is lettucey even a word?). But it's not something that would make you gag or anything! I'm more impressed all the time. This is something that I will prepare more often without even considering the possibility that it just might, "might" help in eliminating fat cells. I appreciate the fact that when I drink it I'm receiving health benefits from the minerals and vitamins and whatever medicinal benefits it might impart, perhaps cooling my system and maybe helping with inflammation.
Bottom line for those of you who poo-poo herbal stuff . . . it's got minerals in it, it's free for the picking and it tastes good!! No waste either - the chickens loved it!!
Tonight I'm fixing spaghetti and meat sauce. Fast, easy and simple. I'll be tired so fixing something I could prepare with my eyes closed is perfect.
See Ya!
