Tonight is pizza night!! Oh my gosh!! I am so hungry. This is not going to be pretty!! LOL!!
Today is my "Awareness" day. I try on a monthly basis now to get out and virtually run around. I can't do this on my grocery shopping day because my mind is focused on this or that best deal and trying to buy what will last us for a month. So this particular day may seem to be wasteful to some people. It is helpful to me since I no longer trek to the law office each day; and, otherwise, there are months that I would only get off the place for groceries and church. I find that I fall behind if I don't get out, not only socially, but also in the awareness of what is going on around me. Yes, I listen to the news but I'm talking about what is happening in my own area. What kind of sales are currently out there for food, clothes, utensils. What new businesses, stores and restaurants have opened. What is actually available to me without having to pay shipping online, what are the new up-to-date fashions, and last but not least, face-to-face hellos, conversations, and just contact with others. It also helps me gauge the prevailing attitudes of the people in my area. Are they hurting, depressed, happy, or lonely. If you try to stay aware you can actually get a feel for how your own surrounding world is doing. The only way I can explain it is - ever gone into Wal-Mart a week or two before Christmas? feel the frantic feeling? It's kind of like that. I try to hone my people skills on my "Awareness" day because I don't meet a lot of people, now that I am no longer working outside the home. Now don't get me wrong - I'm not one of those that has to do what everybody else does or wear what everybody else wears but we all live in this world and we all need to be aware of what is going on around us. "No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee." - by John Donne(1572-1631) Tonight is pizza night!! AuthorMy name is Nina. Southern Indiana has been my home since 1952. I've been a legal secretary most of my adult life and for my leisure time I enjoy everything connected to the world of herbs and cooking is almost like a "fever". I am also quite opinionated but try not to push my opinions on others. My family is grown and I'm left with a wonderful hubby sharing life with me. I'd guess you'd say my passion is living that life to the fullest. Archives
