I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and bought some acrylic paints to paint all of my garden decorations. I have butterflies, gnomes, turtles, fairies and all sorts of odds and ends. I love pretending and I love the imagination that we all have buried somewhere inside us. (Mind you I understand that some get truth and mythical lore all mixed up. I’m just not one of them.) But all that being said, my youth was filled with imaginary creatures, great and small; so consequently, I fill what garden space I feel appropriate, with little such fun items. When I was young I had an imagination that is incomparable and actually, still do, to this very day. I suppose I’ll never fully grow up. For me, my imagination only proves how small our minds really are and how unbelievably immense God’s mind must be. Oh, I suppose I think too much . . . but at least I think!!
Anyway, I’m painting all my garden decorations this week-end and I’m really excited. It’s quite a job because I’ve got so many. I love colorful things and if you just add the right amount of color in just the right spot in your garden, everything seems to "pop"! I try to make my garden shine with colorful herbs and flowers but there are many times during the season you only get green and though I do love all the many shades of green - I LOVE YELLOW AND RED AND . . . so hence my garden decorations!!
I also have some old wallpaper trim on the walls going downstairs to our basement that I need to finish tearing off. I think we’re going to paint it a really faint yellow for now and when I come across a sunflower trim or some kind of trim along those lines, then I’ll scoop it up and put in on the wall. It doesn’t need much but the light yellow will certainly brighten up the stairway and make it more open and airy feeling.
There’s just so much to do to keep this place up. Some things seem so insignificant but every little touch adds to the whole.
