After I took the Apple Butter out of the canner I got busy peeling and slicing apples for apple pie filling. As you can see below a half peck doesn't make a whole lot but hey, that's 4 apple pies and 1 batch of fried apple pies. It's better than nothing!! I look forward to using the filling, that has no apples in it, as a sauce for cakes. I'll put some of it in a pan, add some butter, warm it up and pour over cakes. Such a nice change from icing and it's a warm topping on which you can also add cream or whip cream to as well. Obviously, I wasn't going to throw the extra yummy stuff away!!
By the way, for those of you who are reading and do not live in Southwestern Indiana - it's been pretty doggone cool here. Cool enough that we have to wear jackets now. I'm ecstatic!! It's just perfect weather to work outside! I was reading another blog this morning and in Montana one of the bloggers said they've had their first frost. Brrrrr! I don't think I'm ready for that just yet. Have a nice evening.
