This morning I've been trying to get as much prepared before they get here as I can so that I have time to spend with the girls. We have herbs we're gathering for the salad and they will have to help me prepare dessert for dinner tonight. Those two are an absolutely huge, huge enjoyment!
Meanwhile, I have the chicken breasts and T-Bone Steaks thawing and everything else just waiting for the appropriate time to start each dish. The Italian Beef Soup has been made and is safely tucked away in the refrigerator for lunch tomorrow, the deviled eggs made with homemade mayonnaise are finished, most of the salad has been prepared, the Doublemint Tea is made, sweetened regular tea is done and; oh, well, I'm sure I've forgotten something! I'm fixing a couple odd side dishes for tonight's supper, one called Spicy Roasted Cauliflower and one called Grilled Zucchini with Lemon Zest. Keep your fingers crossed.
It really is a pretty day and just as soon as it gets a little warmer, hopefully, I can get these tomato plants I've got sitting in the basement under the grow light into the ground. The sun is nice but the wind is constantly blowing and it's not a warm wind either so I can't really put the tomatoes out. They'll get blown away. Maybe next week I can plant tomatoes and perhaps get started on planting beans, etc.
Hubby went out to feed the horses tonight and next thing I know he's at the back door and he has this look in his eyes like "OOOOPS!!!!" He said, "Was I supposed to leave the eggs in the boxes?" I looked at him and said, "Oh honey, I've been leaving them in the hen boxes all day so the girls can get them." He turned directly around and was on his way back to the barn to put the 7 eggs back in the nesting boxes and I couldn't help but think what a wonderful man I had by my side - so filled with goodness. He is irreplaceable. By the way, I had him bring the eggs on in the house and told him not to worry, the girls could gather them tomorrow.
