It's kind of chilly again this morning and will be so for the whole week; which is fine, it's just not going to allow me to do much vegetable gardening. This morning as is normal, I fed and watered the chicks and they have already graced me with 2 eggs. My chickens lay between 10:00 and 2:00 most of the time and I like knowing their pattern because I make a habit of trying to get the eggs out of their nesting boxes as soon as I can. I think that perhaps that will keep them from accidentally finding out they can peck their own eggs and eat them. I have an occasional rubber egg and when it breaks they are on it like stink on skunk and I don't want them to put 2 and 2 together!! Yes, chickens like to eat eggs!! Scramble some up sometime and see them go for it!! Therefore, I just keep eggs out of their diet, just my preference mind you, because many people feed them eggs.
I worked most of the day in the herb garden. First I started on the center which holds all my lavender and my fig tree also grows there. It has just barely begun to sprout. Oh my, I do love figs. I have a big red hibiscus planted in amongst the lavender and it is just beginning to sprout as well. The center around the bird bath has pink pyrethrum daisies which are used for insect control but in this case are just plain pretty! They will be blooming, it looks like, in about a week.
Then I went to work on raking, weeding and doing some transplanting. Whew! There's more here to do than you think! I also tilled different areas of my herb garden and raked it up really nice, transplanted some chamomile I had found coming up and have finally stopped to draw a breath! Folks, I was going to take pictures to let you see how nice it looks but that's going to have to happen tomorrow. I'm about to drop.
See Ya!
