Sunday evening the weather site was reporting possible frost warnings. I went out to the garage and hunted down a bunch of pots and covered some of the basil and hoped for the best. The vegetable garden didn’t have anything in it that would be hurt by a light frost. It would have to get much colder to kill what we have out there but I was a little nervous about the basil. My herb garden is in a very protected area with trees on 3 sides so generally it doesn’t take too much of a hit, regardless of the weather.
I got up this morning grabbed my boots and coat and went out for my walk and it looks like everything made it through the night just fine.
My husband and I sat out on the back deck and talked about our garden while drinking coffee this morning. The carrots are not coming up like we think they should and we’re trying to decide whether to plant another row, till up the one we have and replant - or give it another week. We will probably give it one more week since the weather is supposed to get quite warm after today. If they aren’t up soon we’ll have to plant again.
The cilantro is ready to use and when I smell it I can’t help but think about "salsa!" I’ve been looking at a recipe using raspberries, mangoes and onions. Ooooh, doesn’t that sound wonderful?!
I’ve got a whole lot of Kale and Swiss Chard coming up which means I’ve got to find someone that would be willing to take some off my hands. One can only use so much kale, ya know?
Here it is!!! I just think it's amazing. It may be an experiment that will end badly . . . but who knows, maybe I'll actually be able to use this celery. They say to let it grow up and then you cut off what you need and it will continue to grow. Cool, if it works, huh!!!
Well, gotta get going - so much to do - so little time!!
