I got home from work this afternoon and immediately went out to start weeding. There's nothing like watching your herbs and vegetables grow and there's nothing like watching the weeds grow right along beside them, sometimes out distancing them!! Who knew they could grow so fast!!! Later I took my camera out and tried to get a few pics of the roses. I wish I was a better photographer because they are so beautiful.
Last night about 2:30 a.m. when we received our emergency call we quickly sprang into action and got everything locked down that wasn't already safely put away. I ran and got my keys and pulled the van into the garage and then ran out to the hot box and shut it so the wind would not grab the glass door and pull it off. Hubby made sure the umbrella, pillows and rugs were pushed into an area where they wouldn't blow away, and moved his truck in as well. We both came back into the house, listened and waited and then when the whole thing blew over, we both went to bed with flashlights at our side. This morning when I got up and went into the kitchen I was sort of grumpy because of the couple hours or so of sleep that I'd missed last night and then I smelled the peonies on the table and for some reason all of that came together in what I deemed as a very, very grateful moment. Here I was smelling peonies and being grumpy because of a little lack of sleep and there was a whole community in Oklahoma that had lost their homes, and some, even their loved ones. I suddenly felt the urge to not only say, "Thank you God for all that you have allowed me to continue to share," . . . but . . . "Please God watch over those tornado victims in Oklahoma. Give them the courage, stamina and the hope they need to get through the days ahead." You know, we can send money and we can send food; but how do you send courage and hope? There is a way!! Pam's Choice Foxglove I got home from work this afternoon and immediately went out to start weeding. I cannot believe that my Pam's Choice Foxglove is doing so well. I'm sure you probably can't see but on the ground all around the foxglove are hundreds of tiny baby foxglove. Last year when the foxglove went to seed I let all the seed fall right where the plant stood. I figured I'd be lucky to get a couple plants but, oh my, there are way too many. I'm actually going to have to transplant them somewhere else, give them away or throw them away and to be honest I really don't need any more than I already have. My niece and her husband are visiting this week-end. I'm going to do my level best to talk her into taking some home with her. I just can't bear to throw them away!!

AuthorMy name is Nina. Southern Indiana has been my home since 1952. I've been a legal secretary most of my adult life and for my leisure time I enjoy everything connected to the world of herbs and cooking is almost like a "fever". I am also quite opinionated but try not to push my opinions on others. My family is grown and I'm left with a wonderful hubby sharing life with me. I'd guess you'd say my passion is living that life to the fullest. Archives
