Now I can look to digging horseradish whenever I please along with echinacea and sassafras. I will wait even longer though before doing so, as long as I have it dug before the ground freezes.
Today I diced up some smoked sausage and onions and browned them in olive oil. I added the water from the canned potatoes into the sausage and onions, added green and red peppers, sauteed them for a few minutes, and then poured that into the crockpot along with a quart of potatoes and a handful of carrots, basil salt, pepper and some flour for thickening. It's been 2 hours later since putting it all in the crockpot and I can smell the wonderfulness all over the house! Yum!! I am now going to make some biscuits to go with Hubby's supper. All this being accomplished he will have the sausage dish, fried apples, biscuits and Grandmother's Pound Cake for dessert. The man ain't gonna starve. LOL!!
What a day this one has turned into. It's not cold - cool - but not cold. It's a perfect day for a fire . . . and some chili. Maybe tomorrow I can rustle up some chili over the fire pit. I'm off tomorrow but have to work today. Mmmmm, chili does sound good and some cornbread too! Then spending the evening around the campfire would just about be perfect.
