Mommy, Daddy and older sister went to Holiday World, papaw went to work and she and I became farmer girls and went out to the barn to get eggs. I told her we wouldn't have very many yet but she was determined. Then we went to the garden and started to pick yellow squash when she spied the red raspberries. All I could hear is this anxious excitement rising higher and higher in her voice when she said, "There's red raspberries granny, bunches and bunches!!! Can I pick them - oh gosh, here's another one - oh gosh." If I heard oh gosh once I heard it 50 times. She was ecstatic. She'd pick one, put it to her mouth and look at me and if I shook my head up and down she ate it. I kept her at a low ebb but definitely learned how to shake my head up and down!!!!! She was quite taken with all the yellow cherry tomatoes too and she tried desperately to eat the broccoli but I held her off. I didn't want a sick one on my hands. Hard to believe, but this one loves fresh broccoli and not cooked broccoli. She simply loves dill and thinks our horses, Power and Missi, are wonderful. For 3 years old she's quite something, but aren't they all at 3!!
Sesame Street is the treat for the day with our cookie break so I have a little time to type. Cookie Monster has been mesmerizing children for years. Big Bird was her Daddy's favorite and Cookie Monster was her Uncle's - way back when. Such memories make me almost cry.
After her nap we had our afternoon snack at the gazebo in the herb garden, got to swing on the tire swing, checked out all the herbs and flowers, visited the gnome home, fed the catfish and checked on the chickens again. We read TinkerBell books and played with the dollhouse. It was quite a day. I've never answered so many questions. When Papaw gets home she says he is giving her a ride on the tractor and she's just sure she'll be riding Missi too. Papaw won't know what hit him!! TeeHee!!
We're doing corn tonight and how in the world I'm going to be able to put it all up with her helping me is anyone's guess. How in the world did I do all the canning when my kids were little ones I'll never know!!
