As I was saying, I've been planning my Christmas groceries because this is the month I get to bake cookies, breads and cakes. I get to make candy, jellies and jams, horseradish, mustard and pickled veggies and it's all fairly acceptable holiday fare. No guilt involved. I like that!! So today when I shopped, above all I had to have chocolate. Can't live without chocolate, and milk, cream, butter, eggs, flour, and sugar along with all those items you just have to have. I'm thinking though maybe raising chickens is in my future . . . or cows, nah, that's a pretty iffy venture for me but then I wouldn't have to buy eggs, cream, or milk and I could make my own butter!! One never knows! Oh if only there was a chocolate tree somewhere.
Anyway, it's Christmas dinner that really sets me on fire. Thanksgiving ALWAYS has to be turkey in our family but Christmas is my baby. I can fix the finest of the fine or plain old ordinary (but don't tell me it's ordinary, I'd be crushed). I get to fix whatever I want. This year I'm thinking Pork Tenderloin with Spinach, Pine Nuts and Garlic, maybe a side dish of Scalloped Potatoes or wait maybe Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Cheddar Chive Biscuits, and oh my . . . I could go on forever. It's just my nature, once I get ready, and I get set . . . I'm gone!!!
